Nicolassa Ventura Colaj, age 33, was killed in a hit-and-run accident just after midnight on New Year's Day as she and her family were leaving their church on Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford. She was a hardworking mother of three, and an active member of Centro Comunitario de Trabajadores (CCT), a non-profit organization that advocates for the rights of low-wage workers in southeastern Massachusetts.
