Donation protected
My name is Sengchan Yang, a mother to six children. My one-year old son, August Thao, passed away on Sunday, September 1st due to a failed operation at the hospital. I am asking for any donation to cover his funeral expenses. His funeral service will be on Sunday, September 15th.
On the morning of Sunday, September 1, my one-year-old son, August Thao, was fed three spoons of fried rice by my husband and reacted with a sneeze. His face turned pale, and he started crying. I came to lift him up and noticed the color of his face was changing. I then called 911 for help. About 3 minutes later, an ambulance and police car showed up at my place. By that time, my son could not breathe and was quiet. The police officer took my son and gave him two back blows. After the back blows, my son was able to cry out loud and breathe again.
The ambulance staff came rushing in to give an oxygen mask to my son. At that time, my son was feeling normal but was still crying. They took him to the ambulance vehicle to check his oxygen level. About 20 minutes went by, and they said his oxygen level was low and he must be taken to the hospital. I went inside the ambulance vehicle to be with my crying son as it drove off to the hospital.
When we arrived at the hospital, I felt that my son was crying normally. He was scared and not used to seeing many different faces around him. The hospital staff took him to a room and said to my husband and me that they needed to help him because his oxygen level was low. They did not allow us to stay with him regardless of his cries for us to be with him. Four to five nurses grabbed my son to give him an IV shot. At that very moment, my husband and I felt emotionally distressed and cried for them to allow us to stay with our son. The hospital staff did not allow us to stay because they had to perform their work behind closed doors. We had to wait outside of the room.
After about 1 hour, a hospital staff member came and said they had put my son to sleep. They would be putting tubes in him because he was having difficulty breathing. They allowed my husband and me to see him. When we saw my son, he was not the same but different. The hospital staff said they would be putting a tube inside one of his armpits and throat. My husband and I did not get to stay long with my son because the hospital staff wanted to perform more work on him and would be moving him to a different room upstairs on level 5. We asked them if we could stay with our son when they performed the work and move, but they denied our request.
When my son was moved to a different room on level 5, the hospital staff said that in one hour my husband and I could see our son. We waited three hours and did not hear any news. We then asked a hospital staff member for an update. The staff member said in 30 minutes they would allow us to see him because they were still performing some blood work on him. We waited over an hour, and the hospital staff finally came to give us an update. The update was they put tubes inside my son to help vacuum the air from inside his lungs, but the pressure was too high and caused air to go behind his back. In addition, the tube that was routed to his heart caused him to bleed out a lot. They could not save our son and said he would not live.
