Help Cover Shirl's Ongoing Memory Care

Donation protected

We are eternally grateful for every single person who has donated to support The Engquist family during this time! As the situation with Floyd and Shirl has been evolving quickly, we wanted to keep you updated.

Because of your generosity, Shirl was successfully relocated to a beautiful facility with amazing, around-the-clock care. The transition was hard, but she is doing well and even making friends! She is in good hands and we have each one of you to thank for that.

Since our original goal was met so quickly, and after receiving so many requests to raise the amount:

We have decided to raise our goal to $35,000. This additional $25,000 will cover 6 months of care for Shirl as long-term arrangements for her are being made.

Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for your messages of love and support. Thank you for helping us return the generosity that Floyd and Shirl demonstrated their entire lives. THANK YOU.

Please keep Floyd and Shirl's sons, Doug and Darin, in your prayers as they continue to navigate this <3

On February 6th, Floyd Engquist was rushed to the hospital for severe shortness of breath. He had been in and out several times that week, and was already on oxygen, but was still unable to breathe. Soon after, he tested positive for COVID in addition to his pre-existing lung disease.

On February 10th, Pastor Floyd was intubated (placed on a ventilator), no longer able to breathe on his own. For almost two weeks, he stayed on life support while Doug and Darin made arrangements for Shirl. Having been diagnosed with dementia, Shirl was unable to live on her own and she was left without a permanent residence as they were already in the process of selling their home. She required urgent relocation to a memory care facility.

On February 23rd, Floyd passed away peacefully in his hospital room. His wife and sons were able to spend time with him the night before, talking and singing in his room. While his condition hadn't changed in weeks, he passed just hours after Shirl was finally able to visit him, and we don't think that was a coincidence.
