SUMMARY: My cat Silke had to undergo an emergency C-section in the middle of the night. The insurance did not cover anything, and I am now left with a vet bill of 4 935 euro ( 5 790 USD, 58,000 NOK) that I cannot pay alone. Any help would mean so much!

Hi! My cat Silke had to undergo an emergency C-section last weekend (August 30th 2025) in the middle of the night. She was in great pain but was unable to deliver her kittens on her own. (“C-section” means Caesarean section – an emergency surgery to help a mother cat deliver her kittens when she cannot give birth naturally). This life-saving procedure was necessary for Silke and her kittens.

I was completely certain that the insurance I had paid for would cover most of the bill. Afterwards, to my despair, I discovered that they would not cover anything at all, due to a specific condition (the cat had to have been insured for at least one year, and Silke had been insured for a shorter time than that).

Of course, I had no other choice - the C-section saved the lives of both the mother cat and her kittens - but now I am left with a veterinary bill of 58,000 NOK. Veterinary surgery in Norway is very expensive, and the amount was especially high because the operation took place on a weekend and in the middle of the night.

This is a large and unexpected expense that I cannot manage on my own. I am hoping that animal lovers will help me by contributing to this campaign.
