Hi Everyone,
We're Madii and Anthony and have had the gift and joy of having sweet Woody for the last 3 years.
On Friday, February 21st, Woody was hit by a car and has been in specialty emergency vet care since. He experienced wounds and minor lacerations around his face and neck; has nerve damage in his front left leg which has currently lost full functionality; has contusions all around his heart and lungs, arrhythmia, and has experienced difficulty breathing as there is a puncture in his lung that is leaking oxygen into his chest.
On Sunday, February 23rd, we received promising news. His breathing is becoming better and easier, his heart rate is stabilizing, and his contusions look a little better; we even had the opportunity to sit/lay with him in a room. Our visits to this point have only been through a little window as he's been in an oxygen tank since Friday afternoon so getting a chance to see him stand and wag his tail at the sight of us was the greatest gift we could receive today. The vets feel that at this time, with the information we have, and with the pattern of his progress, his recovery is promising.
With that said, we fortunately expect him to return home. However, to ensure he has what he needs, he does require continuous medical attention and support from the vet. We also anticipate weeks of recovery in the near future and all of this unfortunately comes with a hefty price.
If you know Woody, you know he's crazy (incredibly playful), lazy (loves his rest... he is part hound afterall), and deeply loyal. He's our best friend who joins us in hikes, walks, coffee dates, quick bites to eat, and all sorts of adventures. He is one of our greatest sources of love and joy. We would feel forever grateful to have the opportunity to continuously give him the best life possible.
We humbly ask for help. We expect to pay $17-$20,000 in medical expenses once Woody is totally recovered. Any support is appreciated at this time as it will go directly to the additional days he needs at the vet to complete this recovery, the rehabilitation needed after he's released, and medication to ease his pain.
In deep gratitude,
Madii & Anthony
