Urgent Home Repair Needed Amid Masha's Disability Challenges

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Masha. Thank you so much for visiting my GoFundMe page and reading my story!

This past year has brought challenges I never imagined dealing with at 36. The last 8 months have been filled with unending chronic pain with pain spikes so intense I lose consciousness. My mobility has become limited, and I now rely on a walker or wheelchair to get around. I am currently in the hospital as I work to stabilize my health.

Through all of this, my condo, which has been a stable home for years, suffered a major leak that caused extensive damage. The repairs will cost nearly thirty thousand dollars, far beyond what I can manage while navigating daily life with chronic illness. My parents were hoping to sell the condo to help me move into a safe and accessible home, but it is not livable in its current condition.

I am asking for help to cover these repairs so I can have a place to heal and rebuild my life. Every donation, no matter the size, brings me one step closer to safety, stability, and peace of mind. Thank you for supporting me during this incredibly difficult season.

What the Funds Are For

The leak caused extensive damage to most of the first floor. The repair and rebuild costs include

  • Walls, floor, and ceiling tear-out: $1,000+
  • Drying and mold prevention: $6,000+
  • Rebuilding and finishing: $22,000+

These costs are far beyond what I can manage on my own, especially while recovering in the hospital and managing chronic pain.

How I Got Here

About fifteen years ago, I was working hard to build my business while looking for a place to live. I was not earning enough to cover rent and spent some time sleeping in my car or at my photo studio. My mom helped me search for a place, but after weeks of looking, it was clear there was nothing I could afford.

At that time, my parents made a life changing decision. They purchased a small condo and allowed me to live there while I covered the bills. I put everything I had saved into renovations. That home became a foundation for me, a place of stability during some very difficult years.

What Has Happened Recently

In March, my job was cut due to restructuring and in April, my health began to decline rapidly. For the past eight months, my baseline pain has been five to seven out of ten, with spikes so severe I sometimes lose consciousness. My mobility has been heavily affected. I use a walker for short distances and a wheelchair most of the time.

As all of this was happening, things at the condo kept breaking. The garage needed major repairs twice. Both toilets failed and had to be replaced. The air conditioning unit broke. Each repair wiped out the savings I had left. Then the new leak appeared, and the damage was far worse than expected, requiring most of the first floor to be gutted.

Sterling, my tenant Joey, and my parents have been helping, but I cannot cover these repairs on my own.

Being Fully Transparent

My parents and I plan to sell the condo once it is repaired. With my current mobility challenges, I need a home that is accessible and does not have stairs. Selling the condo is the only realistic way for me to move into a safer, more suitable home.

The funds raised here will go directly toward repairing the damage so the condo can be sold. Your support is not just repairing walls. It is helping me create a safe place where I can heal and rebuild my life.

Why I Am Asking for Support

The total cost to repair and rebuild the damaged areas is nearly thirty thousand dollars. I lost my job, my health has changed dramatically, and my savings are gone. I am doing everything I can to stabilize while in long term medical care.

If you are able to donate any amount, it would mean more than I can express. Every contribution brings me closer to having a safe place to live again and taking the next step in rebuilding my life. If you cannot donate, sharing this campaign would also be a tremendous help.

I am also open to work opportunities that can pay in advance, including remote or project based work I can responsibly take on while recovering.

Thank you for reading my story, for caring, and for being part of my community. This has been one of the hardest seasons of my life, but your support reminds me that I am not walking through it alone.

With love and gratitude
Masha
