Hi, my name is Rachel and I've started this fundraiser to help cover my best friend Elise's surgery costs.

Anyone who knows Elise knows what an incredibly talented athlete she is. From starting parkour at 11 years old, competing in her first international competition at 13, to winning the world championships at 18, her talent and determination has always been something that inspires me.

Unfortunately, in September 2023, while filming ‘Gatecrasher’, Elise suffered her first major injury. A rupture to her MPFL ligament in her knee, which would require a surgery to fix. After a 10 month wait on the NHS waiting list, she was informed that it would be another 10 month wait before it would be possible to have the surgery. This is when she and her family decided to go private to get the care she needed.

For anyone unaware of the healthcare system in the UK, private healthcare is incredibly expensive, and generally only sought after as a last resort, due to the hefty bill you are left with after.

Luckily, the team behind Gatecrasher were able to make a significant contribution towards surgery costs, which was incredibly helpful.

During the recovery period from her first surgery, her other knee started to frequently dislocate. It soon became clear that the same weakness that caused the injury in her left knee was also present in her right knee. It was an injury waiting to happen, and would require the same surgery to prevent it. After no success with getting on an NHS waiting list, she and her family decided to use the lessons learnt from the previous time and go private from the start.

Now, Elise is recovering from a successful second surgery, focused on making a return to parkour.

Elise’s family have made many sacrifices to be able to cover the costs of the surgeries.

Everything raised by this fundraiser will go directly to Elise's family to help cover the costs of the surgeries and her ongoing physiotherapy treatment.

My goal is to help her get back into parkour and not be left struggling financially because of a sport that she loves.

After 2 years away from the sport, the whole process has been extremely tough for everyone involved.

We all hope to see her make a successful return to the sport, and to carry on training and performing at the highest level. We miss her.
