My Dad is one of the most giving people that I know. Unfortunately, in August, he fell ill and was hospitalized for over two weeks. They were never able to fully diagnose what happened or why he got so sick. He was transferred to a skilled nursing facility where he attended therapy but faced several setbacks, including internal bleeding of his stomach and afib.

Unfortunately, I found out on December 29 that Medicare is no longer paying for his medical care as of December 28, and I am stuck paying his daily fee of $340 per day. I have appealed Medicare and am starting the Medicaid process but will not be able to get it finalized by the end of the month. My Dad is also a veteran but does NOT qualify for any benefits because he was medically discharged too early during peace times. He is not medically able to live with us without 24/7 care and that is more expensive than the skilled nursing facility.

I will be required to pay the $10,900 for the month of January.
