Help cover Cornell Animal Hospital care for Boone

Donation protected
Everyone's favorite little Shiba dude, Boone, isn't doing so well at the moment. He's up at Cornell getting the very best care possible, trying to narrow down the potential cause for his weight loss, GI discomfort and elevated kidney levels. They just called me with an update and while he is a little 'brighter and perkier' from the IV fluids and meds he isn't 'out of the woods' just yet. At this time, they are getting him rehydrated and comfortable, helping his little body fight off infection and trying to find the source so they can administer the appropriate antibiotics. They will also take a look inside with ultrasound this afternoon to rule out any potential tumors or blockages.

By this evening we will hopefully have a better idea of what the future brings for little Boone. While he is over 10 yrs old, that is really 10 yrs young for a primitive dog breed that is known to live to 18+ years and have few health problems. Up until a week and a half ago he was displaying no health issues or pain. If it is the worst case scenario we will cross that bridge when the time comes. In the meantime, we needed to find out if it was something treatable and manageable, like Lyme disease or a really bad bladder infection, and to get him the intensive supportive care that just isn't available in Binghamton.

He showed us that he wasn't ready to give up just yet so we aren't giving up on him! Even last night when he was feeling his absolute worst he still managed to get up and give Bogdan and I a little Shiba shout and smile. If you know Shiba's you know that is the ultimate sign of their love and excitement for life, not something he would muster up if he was really shutting down.

As most of you know, Cornell is a world renowned veterinary university and hospital, maybe the best in the country, but that does not come without its price. So far the estimated cost of his care in anywhere from $3000-7000.00. Considering it is late winter and all of my confirmed gardening gigs for the season don't really start till next month, this couldn't have come at a worse time. We thank you for any and all contributions, no matter how big or small!! Even a dollar is huge to us!

Since he was a puppy, Boone has traveled and explored all over the country with me and has made friends every step of the way. The nurse at Cornell said he has already won the hearts of their entire staff with his sweet little personality. With any luck they can get him feeling better soon so we can climb more mountains and adventure together for years to come!!

In addition to this fund raiser... If you or anyone you know is looking, I will be selling my 2009 Kawasaki KLX250SF dual sport and putting 100% of the $ towards his health costs. Keep an eye on my facebook page for the listing.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!! ~ Francine, Bogdan, Emmilie and Wyatt Derp!
