My name is Carl and I’m a 33 year old trans man.

I’m creating this GoFund page hoping that some kind souls would want to help me along economically to help me achieve my dream of finally getting top surgery, so I can get to be finally comfortable in my body.

After struggling with my identity since my teens and hiding myself in my work for many years, the pandemic did to me what it did to quite a lot of other people: It forced me to look myself in the mirror and be alone with my thoughts, and so I was no longer able to push myself away. I came out as transgender in January 2021 and started my hormone therapy through GenderGP in April 2021.

I can easily say that the hormones have saved my life, I can finally recognise my face in the mirror and every single $ has been worth it. BUT recently I have had more and more problems with my hormone balance. My estrogen level is way too high, and therefore the fatty tissue around my chest has began growing back. From being 87cm around the chest I’m now back at 93cm wide. It feels like I’m fighting my own body.

Sadly it’s becoming a bigger and bigger problem as I the past month have experienced being misgendered almost every single day. It’s severely affecting my mental health and I’m at a level of frustration I cannot explain. I don’t feel comfortable in my own skin.

Therefore I have begun the process of getting a mastectomy (top surgery) in May 2023.

The cost will be 49000SEK and covers:

- The double incision operation

- The compression vest (which is needed afterwards)

- 3 check ups with the doctor

My partner, Fulvia Franco and I can currently cover 30000SEK. This is money taken from our joint savings that was supposed to go toward moving back to Denmark. But we have decided together that this is an urgent matter and that I don’t have the mental strength to go through the waiting list at Danish CKI (Centre for Gender Identity in Denmark).

That means we’ll need a little help from all of you to hopefully cover the rest or even a part of it. Any help would be very welcome and truly make a difference.
