Help cover bills until help is in place

On Sunday the 9th of January 2022 at 7.50pm my partner Lenny was traveling to work as he’s a HGV driver delivering food to supermarkets when he was rear ended by what we believe by evidence present at the scene a drunk driver doing 70mph in a 30mph zone. The suspected drunk drivers car hit ours with such force that it spun our car down the road and finally hitting a brick wall that was 20 meters approximately from place of impact. The drunk driver then got out of his car and absconded the scene, not checking on my partner or going to get help.

The other driver later handed himself in on the Wednesday.

My partner hurt is head, neck, back and and other bruising to areas of the body, he was taken to hospital for a CT scan and was told he could go home at midnight only a few hrs after impact. Lenny started to worsen over the next few days . On the Wednesday he basically had been bed bound since returning from hospital from the crash, constantly losing balance when stood up and passing out when attempting to walk. Wednesday sometime in the evening he had a pretty bad stroke, we was told the waiting time was 40 mins for an ambulance and after 1hr it came however they sadly that ambulance couldn’t take him as they didn’t have the appropriate equipment to get him downstairs as he couldn’t walk and was in and out of consciousness not being able to have a conversation so we had to wait for another ambulance with more appropriate equipment to help. He was rushed to hospital where he has now since moved to another hospital that specifies in strokes & trauma.

On the Thursday we received the call and the words started with “I’m sorry it’s not good news” my heart broke, sadly he had a very bad stroke and he wasn’t in a great way. It’s now Saturday he sadly is unable to move and sadly he can’t talk too well currently. It’s actually his 42nd birthday today and he’s not even in a position to even be helped into a wheelchair just outside the ward doors so I & his children (3,4 & 13) can wish him a happy birthday due to his condition they’re not able to risk doing this yet. I’m told he’s going to need rehab to help him.

I don’t go out to work as with having 3 children childcare would cost more than I would earn, we also have a 3 year old that we suspect has mild autism that needs hands on monitoring at all times and sadly doesn’t attend nursery for her full government hrs she’s entitled to due to her sightly more needs that the school/nursery need to enforce. So returning to a job would be practically impossible until she’s in full time school.

I'm embarrassed that I’m asking here, but I’m writing this because sadly for the next few months whilst everything is sorted I don’t have enough income to cover my house bills I’m just worried of making ends meet currently until all is sorted. He is the one that goes to work and makes enough to cover our bills and put food on our table I stay home and look after the children I only get £198 a month from the government for the kids that is it. Sadly he’ll only get one month full pay which is a shame for 4.5yrs service with the job but I don’t have access to this to use for bills he’s old fashioned and doesn’t do joint bank accounts which really doesn’t help in family situations like this.

I can not believe that this other driver has walked away injury free and we’ve had our life’s changed completely with life changing injuries all because of someone else’s reckless driving.

If you could help in any way just by helping donate or share this it would be great appreciated so much.
