Help Baxter Get the Care He Desperately Needs
Donation protected
I’m reaching out on behalf of a dear friend and her incredible service dog, Baxter. She’s
facing unexpected and overwhelming vet bills while managing her own disability, which prevents her from working full-time. She needs our help.
A few nights ago, a lump appeared on Baxter’s leg, and it grew alarmingly. His entire leg, chest, and stomach were swollen. This lump has since burst and is now an open wound that needs to be cleaned and wrapped multiple times a day. He’s in visible pain, struggling to move or rest comfortably, and often needs to be carried despite weighing 80 pounds.
Despite multiple vet visits, blood tests, X-rays, and a biopsy, the cause remains unknown. As of now, he has a large wound from where his skin split and burst, and will need a few more follow up appointments, meds and medical supplies. He can't be left unattended yet so she will have to take the next week or so off work to take care of him. These unplanned expenses, combined with time off work are beyond what she can afford alone.
Baxter isn’t just a service dog—he’s her partner, her lifeline, and her constant source of support. For years, he’s helped her navigate a world that often feels impossible for someone with invisible disabilities. His presence has given her independence and a quality of life she otherwise wouldn’t have.
Now, Baxter needs our help. Without him, her life will change dramatically. This is a critical moment for them both.
Anything you can give—no matter how small—will help Baxter get the care he needs and give his owner the hope and strength to keep going. Please share if you can’t donate. Together, we can help Baxter recover and ensure they can continue to face the world together. Thank you for caring.

As of now, we're monitoring to see if he will be undergoing surgery to stitch the wound closed if it doesn't heal properly itself. The surgeon didn't want to rush it because it's a little difficult and would involve a skin graft which she wants to avoid since it's on his elbow and there's a higher chance of the stitches failing cuz it's such a highly mobile area. We will update you all as things go.
Any continued support is highly appreciated via this page or e-transfer (can contact myself or Kat for the address).
Thanks so much everyone!
