Dear All,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share the story of Amaan Hamid Shakir, a 25-year-old software developer from Chennai, India, who came to the UAE in January 2023 with hopes of building a better future. Amaan worked at BalanceAI for one and a half years as a Junior Software Developer and later joined Zafco, a tyre manufacturing company, as an in-house Software Developer in December 2024.

In late April 2025, Amaan began suffering from recurring fever, which was initially treated at a nearby clinic. Tragically, on the morning of 15 May 2025, Amaan suffered a sudden and severe seizure at home. He was rushed to International Modern Hospital, Mankhool, where doctors suspected viral encephalitis. Despite extensive tests and treatments, the exact cause could not be identified. After spending 15 days in the ICU without improvement, we transferred him to American Hospital, Oud Metha on 31 May 2025, with the support of insurance. For nearly a month, the doctors tried every possible medical option. On 1 July, we were informed that treatment options were limited. However, we never lost hope—and by the grace of Allah and countless prayers, on 17 July, after nearly two months of unconsciousness, Amaan opened his eyes.

Although this was a miracle, Amaan’s recovery journey is still ongoing. The hospital compassionately proceeded with his final critical procedure—Tracheo-Esophageal Fistula Repair Surgery, which was essential to restore his ability to swallow and receive nutrition after prolonged ventilation. Sadly, after six months of continuous hospitalization, Amaan’s insurance coverage has now been fully exhausted. The outstanding medical bill currently stands at approximately AED 675,655.31, and the hospital has requested settlement at the earliest.

As a family, we are doing everything within our capacity, but this financial burden is far beyond what we can manage alone. We humbly request your kind support and prayers during this extremely difficult time. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference and help us continue Amaan’s recovery journey. Thank you for taking the time to read Amaan’s story and for keeping him in your prayers.

With sincere gratitude,
On behalf of Amaan Hamid Shakir’s family
