My name is PJ Stahl, and I am raising funds for my brother, Dominic, who was diagnosed with ALS three years ago. Over the past few months, his condition has progressed rapidly, and he now requires full-time, around-the-clock care.
Our family has been doing everything we can—dividing caregiving responsibilities among us while balancing full-time jobs and raising children—but the physical, emotional, and financial strain has become overwhelming. As much as we want to continue providing all of his care ourselves, the level of support Dominic now needs requires professional, full-time caretaking to ensure his safety, comfort, and well-being.
We are currently in the process of securing Medicaid assistance, but approval and coverage will take an estimated 30–45 days to officially begin. During this gap, we must privately pay for full-time caregiving, and the cost is more than our family can manage on our own.
UPDATE (Jan 15, 2026):
We found out today that my brother is confirmed to have his Medicaid in-home assessment on February 16. We are very excited to have this confirmed. After this, it will take about 45+ days for Medicaid to kick in.
Why We’re Asking for Help:
This fundraiser is specifically to cover 60+ days of full-time ALS caregiving while we wait for Medicaid to take over. Every dollar raised will be used exclusively for caregiving and medically related support during this critical transition period.
Our Goal:
We are hoping to raise more than $50,000, which will only cover the initial 60 days of 24-hour care until Medicaid assistance begins.
How Your Donation Helps:
$50 – Provides 1 hour of caretaking
$180 – Provides 6 hours of daytime caretaking
$360 – Provides 6 hours of daytime + 6 hours of overnight caretaking (12 hours total)
$720 – Provides 24 hours of full-time caretaking
$5,040 – Provides 7 days of 24-hour full-time caregiving
No amount is too small—every contribution directly reduces the burden on our family and ensures Dominic receives the care he urgently needs.
Tax & Transparency Note:
All funds raised through this fundraiser will be used solely for Dominic’s ALS caregiving and related medical support while awaiting Medicaid approval. These donations are considered gifts for medical hardship and are not income or compensation to the organizer.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser means just as much to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time. ❤️
PJ Stahl
