Hello,

This is a fundraiser to help Courtni Redd and her family with piling medical bills from an unexpected extended hospitalization. Courtni is a loving wife and mother to a 2 year old little girl. She works as a receptionist at a dental office.

On November 5th, she started feeling unwell with a cough and made several trips to her doctor and to Med Express. She was treated for bronchitis initially. When she went back, they diagnosed her with pneumonia and gave her antibiotics and breathing treatments. During this whole time, she continued to care for her family and go to work.

Her symptoms continued to progress and she was sent to the ER. She was shocked to find out she had 2 liters of fluid on her lung. They drained her lung and she was diagnosed with a collapsed lung and spent the night at a local hospital.

On Saturday, 12/10 she was sent to UPMC in Pittsburgh where they removed another 2 liters of fluid from her lung. The fluid had recurred in just 3 days. They also placed a chest tube as the doctors tried to find the cause of this in an otherwise healthy, young woman. She was diagnosed with a very rare condition called chlyothorax. Next came the very lengthy process of trying to find out the root cause of this rare diagnosis.

Cournti has been away from her husband, Shane, and daughter, Evelyn. She is missing all her family and friends as she’s been hospitalized for over a week.

After several tests, they have found that Courtni has 4 holes in her thoracic duct. They have removed over 8 liters of fluid from her lung. They are still trying to get a treatment plan in place for her. Surgery is on the table, but they are currently trying to find the least invasive method of mending the holes.

She is still unsure when she will get to go home. If she is sent home, she will need to be on an expensive injection and follow a strict diet. She will need very close monitoring by the surgical team and pulmonologist.

She has not been able to work and is unsure when she will be able to return.

Everyone that has gotten the chance to know Courtni, knows what a great person she is. She is missing her family and friends.

Christmas is just around the corner, and she just wants to be home with her family.
