Help Courtney Sail: A Journey Against Huntington's
Donation protected
Its a wish of Courtney's to have a holiday and travel out of WA for the first time. Its our hope we can send her on a Cruise from Fremantle to Melbourne with a return flight home.
Meet Courtney, a 24-year-old woman who is courageously facing the challenges of living with a rare genetic condition known as Huntington’s Disease (HD). HD is a devastating inherited neurological disorder that gradually deteriorates brain cells, particularly affecting areas responsible for movement control and memory. Its symptoms, including involuntary movements and cognitive changes, worsen over time, profoundly altering one's life.
Courtney's journey with HD began as she witnessed her family members' struggles with the disease. Sadly, she received her own diagnosis during her teenage years, shattering many of the dreams she held for her future. Despite the adversity, Courtney remains resilient and vivacious. She is the most inspirational young woman and is determined to experience some of those dreams first hand.
With the support of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Courtney has the opportunity to embark on a cruise—an aspiration she has long cherished. Yet, her inability to work and severe financial constraints stand in her way. Your contributions will provide Courtney with essential spending money for the cruise and cover expenses for day excursions. Moreover funds raised will also facilitate a trial weekend trip close to her home to ensure smooth sailing and bolster the team's confidence in assisting Courtney with her unique needs.
Courtney's mobility has been significantly impacted by HD, and as a result, her window for travel is rapidly narrowing. The earlier onset of the disease means its progression is accelerated, emphasizing the urgency of fulfilling her dreams now.
Your generosity can make a profound difference in Courtney's life. By contributing to this campaign, you are not only helping her create cherished memories but also affirming her resilience and strength in the face of adversity. Together, let's rally behind Courtney as she sets sail towards a brighter future—one where her dreams are realized despite the challenges posed by Huntington's Disease.
