Help Courtney receive treatment!

 Hi everyone,
This fundraiser is being started to help show support to Courtney as she just found out she has brain lesions that lead to MS. Multiple Sclerosis. Her symptoms all started post first dose of covid vaccine on August 18th. She woke up the 19th a changed person.

Courtney is a 26 year old mom of two kids. Her daughter being 5, and son being just under 2. They currently are trying to relocate back to family. She has always lived a relatively healthy life. Aside from a few bumps. But her little family has been battling for a month to receive proper care. She’s been to 3 different hospitals about 10 times, an urgent care, and her primary doctor a handful of times since the vaccine. Every doctor told her she just had anxiety as her vitals and everything seemed normal. Echo was normal, and blood work only had a few things stand out to her… but not the doctors. However her kids, friends and family watched things just get worse and worse.

Within 2 weeks after her covid shot on August 18th, Courtney’s weight dropped 20 pounds. She began suffering extreme fatigue, loss of appetite, chest pains that still haven’t gone away, and was doped up on all sorts of different anxiety medications from the doctors. Nothing was helping her feel better. Nothing was taking her symptoms away as they just kept getting worse and worse. She had been tested for covid 2 times at this point.

The end of week 2 post shot she developed clenched jaw issues, migraines, and ear pressure on top of the other symptoms. She was taken to an urgent care where they tested her thyroid And gave her antibiotics incase it was some type of infection since no doctor tried it yet. That doctor along with her primary doctor told her the clenched jaw was anxiety. She at this point had about two moments of her hand having a spasm. But it wasn’t as often as she experiences now.

September 9th, she was brought to OHSU hospital where the doctor diagnosed her with an ear infection and said he was going to give her steroids.. the doctor came back in her room after 10 minutes and changed it to TMJ, and prescribed muscle relaxers and sent her home.

The next day, on September 10th, she woke up unable to get out of bed, and was unable to open her eyes because the pressure she felt. She lost her urgency to use the restroom like you normally feel when waking up and said she laid in her bed feeling lifeless right next to her son. She called her mother in Idaho and said she needed help.  Her mom watched her jaw begin to chatter in spasm form, and had to hear her daughter screaming in pain. Her mother immediately called Courtney’s boyfriend to come home and take her in to the hospital. He quickly got home and took her back to OHSU. This is where it gets heavy.

After about 8 hours of waiting for a doctor to see her, Courtney was brought back to have an EKG done because her chest pain was getting worse. The doctor she had changed her life by finally listening and taking things serious. She received an immense amount of blood tests, UA, an X-ray and then was sent straight into a brain MRI. They tested with contrast to get super clear images. This is where they found lesions on her brain. And she is to be sent for further testing in her spine to find out progression.

She was brought back to talk to the doctor about her scans and they allowed her boyfriend back into the room- which they hadn’t been because of covid. The doctor came in and mentioned how he had seen her during the last couple weeks. He was one of the doctors to tell her when it first started that it was just anxiety. Only this time, they listened and finally did more testings.

Courtney said “I knew something was wrong when they allowed him back in the room with me. I could tell on the doctors face when he sat that my life was about to change.”
Multiple sclerosis is a hard disease, but is manageable with treatment. She is unable to work until further notice because she can’t drive with her vision and light sensitivity or hardly even walk on her own sometimes.

We are hoping to raise as much money as possible to help Courtney with any medical expenses, traveling to doctors, and treatments that insurance may not cover for her. To help her with her kids and family who don’t deserve any of this happening. She is currently waiting to see her specialist to find out about further testing and treatments she is going to need to be healthy again.

We thank anyone who can help Courtney by donating or even simply sharing her Story so she can receive as much support as possible. The last thing this amazing girl deserves.. is to worry about is how she will pay for her treatments to keep her alive longer and feeling good again. We will be updating her journey on here about how she is doing and any news she finds out.

I know she will be forever thankful in anyone who can help out. She’s a fighter, and is working really hard to advocate for her body after being ignored. And is hoping to start treatments like detox formulas while waiting for other options that help.

Thank you again,
And Court- stay strong and keep faith. We got you.
