Hello, my name is Courtney. I’m a wife, a mom, and I was diagnosed with breast cancer on November 16, 2023. I fought so hard to make it through Grade 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer with 11 lymph nodes infected, bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction, 8 dose-dense rounds of chemotherapy, 33 rounds of radiation, blood clots, vertigo, numerous infections, and a hysterectomy. I did all of this while working. It was so difficult juggling work, my health, and my family, but I did well with God carrying me.
Thankfully, I had health insurance through my employer. It was difficult to work there at times; the atmosphere was toxic, especially for someone with a chronic illness, but I worked so hard. Recently, my employers let me go. They continued to shuffle me around and change my job, and now I’ve lost my health insurance. I still have issues stemming from chemotherapy and radiation, like lymphedema in my right arm and hand. I am prone to blood clots. I’m still on chemo pills, and they are expensive. I have to have scans done every few months to make sure the cancer doesn’t come back. I don’t want to put this added strain on my husband, but I do need help until I get back on my feet. I’m actively searching for employment and interviewing.
If you’re able to help financially, that is wonderful. If you’re able to pray for me, that is wonderful as well. Please advocate for yourselves and make sure if you feel any lumps, please get them checked out.
