Help Courtney get her license back!

Hello everyone!

My name is Courtney and I'm in a tough spot.

It all started four years ago when I made a choice to listen to my physically abusive partner instead of that gut reaction every bone in your body makes. Not a smart choice, but at that time saying no was more of a dream than reality.

At that time we were making a lot of unsafe choices, including heavy meth use, this particular time was after a party. We ran out and my partner wanted more and they wanted me to go get it with them. Scared for my life, I ignored all the red flags and drove to PA to buy drugs because that's where they had a connection. It was a very low point in my life.

My tags/registration were expired (different car but same story) so it wasn't hard to get caught. Which is exactly what happened on the way home.

Honestly, thank God/universe/any of the powers that be you believe in because that was my wake-up call. That was the moment I realized what exactly I got myself into. That was the beginning of change.

I pled guilty to DUI and was sentenced to house arrest, probation, drug classes and a whole heap of fines. I was put on a payment plan for the fines which worked out at first, until COVID hit and I was working in a grocery store. Other things took precedence and the payment plan took a back seat.

Fast forward to last year, I'm sitting in the MVA, now four years sober from drugs and alcohol, waiting to get my license renewed from routine birthday expiration. And by paying attention to the story you probably guessed they told me I have a flag on my license and have to call PA. Well, my heart dropped, I knew I did this to myself.

I called PA, they told me I now owe $2,600 of back payment from the missed payments which must be made in a lump sum.

…There's a moment when you hear difficult news when you wanna give up, but you don't, you listen to the little voice that says everything will work out sooner or later as long as you have faith….

So I saved what I could from tax refunds and paychecks, got a hefty chunk before the car registration expired and that money was now being used for repairs to pass the emissions test (99 Honda Accord and still a problem) and then a few months later that same money got me through some bills when I sprained my shoulder from work and out on disability for 3 weeks.

Welp…We do what we can…and when we can not do anymore on our own…we ask for help...

At this moment the whole situation is beyond my control and it's time I ask for help.

Thank you for reading my story, thank you for your support and thank you for being you!

My goal is to be back driving with a valid license, registration and insurance by my birthday at the end of this month (September 29th) your donation will go directly to completing this goal by paying the overdue payments, fixing issues with the car to pass emissions and finding insurance. I can not thank you enough!
TRULY!

Be well, stay well, and much much love
