Help Courtney cover Bunny’s medical expenses

Hi! My name is Brittin and I am the Practice Manager of PetCare of Newberry and President of a SC non-profit animal rescue. One of our greatest supporters and donors, Courtney Van Pelt, needs our support. Courtney, the owner of Sudsy Pups grooming salon in Newberry, SC, has the biggest heart for rescue animals! In the past 2 years, she has adopted 4 pets, all of which have ended up costing her over $10,000-15,000. Penguin, her first rescue in SC, needed heartworm treatment and ended up having emergency foreign body surgery with perforated intestines. Her medical care was easily over $12,000. A few months later, she adopted Seal, a kitty cat, from Saving Saluda Strays. Seal ended up have neurological symptoms and after a decent amount of testing and doctor’s visits, is now on lifelong seizure medication. About a year later, she adopted another precious cat from the Newberry animal shelter named Otter. He is currently under the care of our veterinarian for unexplainable symptoms and we are awaiting the results of expensive, specialty tests to hopefully give us an answer that will have a good outcome. Less than 2 weeks ago, a beautiful, young, stray husky showed up at Courtney’s salon. She was unable to locate an owner and of course, it was not microchipped. Instead of taking her to the shelter and dumping her, she decided to keep her. Unfortunately, Courtney didn’t realize she was soon about to endure yet another tragic veterinary experience. Bunny is now at CVETS in Columbia (an emergency vet hospital) undergoing a very risky emergency surgery just like Penguin had 2 years ago! They believe she has a foreign body with perforated intestines. Since she has only had Bunny for approximately 11 days, pet insurance is highly unlikely to assist in her medical expenses. They have quoted her approximately $9,000. Courtney would never ask for a single cent and she understands that when you say “yes” to saving or rescuing an animal, that means you have to be financially prepared for something like this. But as a veterinary professional, I have NEVER seen someone have this awful of luck. It breaks my heart because I know how much of an incredible person she is and how deeply she loves and cares for all animals. It is my hope that we can bless her as much as she has blessed our non-profit AND all of the pets she cares for on a daily basis!
