Help Courtnay and Son Avoid Homelessness

My name is Courtnay Granado and this is extremely hard for me to do. My disabled son and I are about to be homeless and I need help, something I never thought would happen. My story is detailed below. I put out an ask on the nextdoor app and so many people suggest I start a GoFundMe, so here I am: the following is my story....

HELP!! This is very foreign to me as I am always the one other people come to for help. I have been having an internal debate whether to post this or not but I'm completely out of options. So here goes....My husband of 36 years passed away in January of 2024 (which is why his picture is posted) with no life insurance or retirement except social security. The year before his death I went to school to become a phlebotomist, in my late 50's and only needed to complete my externship. Unfortunately, I was recovering from a broken sternum which delayed my externship. As you can imagine, I was heartbroken after my husbands passing & wasn't able to finish until June of last year. All the while I was struggling financially & my landlord was pushing me move out & started harassing & bullying me adding to my stress level. Every dime I got I pad to him for rent, short of eating, I even went into debt getting short term loans just to keep a roof over our heads;.

I finally got a good job as a phlebotomist in Sept and finally saw a light at the end of the dark tunnel. Unfortunately, the harassment & bullying from my landlord made it almost impossible to concentrate & this wasn't just a new job it was a brand new career. I was laid off 4 months later.

Since losing my husband, everything has been falling apart..my car was stolen in November then found and impounded costing me a small fortune to get out. My eldest son, who was helping me financially lost his job. My brother in law (who I was close to) and my dad, both passed away, and on & on. All the while dealing with my landlords harassment. He started eviction and, to make matters worse, after the 1st court date in April, I was so upset I miss stepped and broke my arm

so severely that I had to have 2 emergency surgeries & am unable to use my right arm. Now I've been ordered to be out of my home by 5/31.

I've been looking for a new place but my back is against the wall because my credit took a nosedive after my husband passed & I still need to find a new job. I'm getting disability, but there is no way for me to come up with "moving money" by 5/31, which is only days away.

My husband and I have been a tenant with this landlord for almost 30 years. I never, ever had any problems until my husband passed. To add to all of this, my younger son (22) has to stay with me because he sustained brain damage after an unprovoked beating and isn't able to work or take care of himself.

PLEASE, PLEASE, I need help, compassion and financial assistance! I don't want to be homeless but that's where I'm headed. I've done everything I can do, but I've fallen very short of the mark. This was my husband's worst fear.

On a good note, I did find a place that is willing to work with me but I need the move in money which is $ 5,000, in order to secure it I know times are tough but anything you can give will be so appreciated, helpful and desperately needed.
