Hi our names are Casey & Christi. Not expecting much, yet this is eventually is our personal goal amount, but we're currently at the end of our ropes. Setting pride aside, humbling ourselves- never thought we'd have to ask for help, but really have tried to the best of our abilities in our situations to do for ourselves. We had this much just a couple months ago after working our summer jobs. We've lived in & worked traveling in our camper for almost the last 3 years after getting into our late 40's & not having kids, instead of staying in the rat race of full time work & bills, we had this full-time RV living dream. Over many years got rid of debt, house & stuff. Saved enough to buy a used truck & trailer. With usually just a month or 2 in-between seasonal jobs lasting about 5 months at a time. We had all our maintenance done before setting off for our next jobs. Continuing to try to keep them up. Half way without warning, our turbo blew. The closest town was very small we were towed to. Luckily found a mechanic who did the repair for $1500. Unfortunately got only 15 minutes out of town when smelled burnt electrical & smoke started coming in under the steering wheel, then died. Towed back- truck to mechanic & trailer to RV park to stay & wait. Unfortunately this was a weekend before Thanksgiving week & weekend after. The mechanic came down with Covid & couldn't work on it. The couple other places here were booked for a couple weeks or didn't work on electrical issues. Only other option was to tow our truck to the nearest Ford dealership- 75 miles away! Diagnosis, junction box & labor- still unable to start it. Between repairs & RV site fees we're in $3350 so far. That's pretty much all we had left to get to our next jobs, except my retirement $. Some family are willing to borrow to us, but we prefer not to be in debt to anyone, as that stresses relationships & our future financial health, but it's getting dire enough to try & ask for help.. With major unforeseen circumstances within the last months of this year, especially this last incident that has us stranded in Oklahoma, draining the last of our savings is quite scary relying on total strangers. We just had insurance, phones, food, gas & maintenance. Once in awhile we'd go site-seeing & have date nights- but always within reason. We try exploring by hiking, biking, kayaking- free activities like that. We just wanted to grow closer experiencing parts of America while still fairly young, for as long as we can do this. We thought we survived the worst situation being on the road after we got this truck about a year & a half ago in spring of '20, Casey was in an accident where someone hit him. That totalled our old truck. Thank God he was not seriously hurt. We found our current used pickup, deciding to go with the power of diesel. On our way to our next job, found out a place we happen to get gas, had water in it & caused a total break-down. Even though we had AAA to tow our truck & trailer, the repairs added up. It was the shop that showed us the proof after draining our tank, but impossible to get the gas station to admit it. Since then every mechanic says it's hard to say if any issues were from that. Even though pretty consistent, after each service, we keep thinking other than regular maintenance- the major issues must be taken care of now. Almost everything's been replaced, but unfortunately all our emergency funds went into this truck. We'd hate that it all went for nothing & have to give it, & probably our dream lifestyle up. We thought it was going to be a simpler life. It still can be, hoping again we can pay for these repairs- the turbo & electrical issue. We were supposed to start our next jobs this week. But here we're stuck 12 hours away, waiting on funds & our truck repairs in a very small town, that doesn't have any chain stores for supplies- just some small local places. We're afraid if we can't pay or get our truck back on the road, what we're going to do. Due to the nature of this lifestyle, our jobs are seasonal or temporary, which doesn't allow us to qualify for loans without a 'steady income' from one place. We hope to still make it & are humbled by any amount that could be donated for our repairs & replenish our savings. We'd greatly appreciate it allowing us to go on. We really try to shop around for the best qualified, honest mechanics/shops possible. If interested in specifics, the rest is a run-down of repairs (all inc. labor) since we had this truck: 4/30/20 $693.85 battery, core charge, fuel filter - 5/8/20 $1,667.33 recovery tank, flush/fill cooling system, air filter restriction meter, tie rod 6/17/20 $1,291.97 universal joint, 4WD drive line, manual lockouts, 4x4 vacuum switch, left stabilizer link - 7/17/20 $266.72 air filter meter, suspension, overdrive - 7/28/20 $1,617.77 water pump, shift lever, belt, headlamp switch - 9/30/20 $623.06 tail light, front sway bar bushings, fuel switch, tailgate molding - 12/28/20 $251.43 diesel oil change, replace fuel filter, rotate tires, brake inspection - 1/22/21 $1,181.76 regulator kit, O-ring, clean tank, exhaust leak, bolts, nuts, clamps - 2/10/21 $520.24 exhaust manifold, spacer, turbo hose - 2/19/21 $3,366.86 all 8 injectors, fuel core charge - 3/16/21 $935.65 alternator & batteries - 4/7/21 $946.32 brake pads, rotors & calipers, brake fluid exchange - 4/14/21 $923.91 actuator motor, valve cover gaskets, valve rocker arm cove - 5/5/21 $712.17 diesel oil & filter change, tire rotation, element & gasket oil filter, ICP sensor assembly, tire patch repair - 5/13/21 $2,405.77 IOL cooler, flush coolant, CA & gasket kit, gasket & intake manifold, element & gasket oil filter, antifreeze - 6/14/21 $243.15 diagnostic 9/28/21 $864.40 radiator, antifreeze, coolant - 10/26/21 $240.02 inspections on engine, cooling, electrical - 10/28/21 $109.63 4 wheel alignment 11/19/21 $1,562.89 turbo replacement 11/22/21 $2500 so far on electrical repair (diagnosis/junction box/PCM) estimate before labor & fixing exhaust leak. Some of these are regular maintenance- but everything else overall seems overly excessive. Of course, we expected there could be issues here & there- but not as continuous as this has been. Our income has paid for our regular expenses, & we could've been able to handle an occasional emergency, then rebuild our savings- but it's been just relentless & taken up all our extra funds. Even if we partially fulfill our goal now, at least we won't be in a panic & can work on getting it built back at our next jobs- although slowly, as we still have our regular expenses. We've majorly cut back, even though we never spent much on any entertainment. No subscriptions to anything, basic phone/internet service, no-fee accounts, never any coffee shops, etc. stuff like that. We're always trying to be as frugal as possible whenever we can. Again, thank you so much for your time reading this, your consideration & any help you can afford. Much blessings!
