Help Cory Keep Cutting: Medical & Business Fundraiser

Donation protected
If you know Cory, even just a little, you already know what an incredible person he is. Cory has been cutting hair in Lynn for about 20 years, and during that time, he’s had the privilege of meeting so many amazing people. Watching him interact with his customers gives you a glimpse into the kind of person Cory truly is.

He never forgets your name. He always remembers what’s happening in your life and takes the time to ask how things are going. If the conversation gets heavy, you can count on him to lighten the mood with a joke or two that will leave you smiling, no matter the circumstances.

In short, Cory has a heart as big as Lynn itself. He loves deeply, cares immensely, and is one of the most loyal people you could ever meet.

Recently, Cory fell extremely ill. He was rushed to the emergency room where doctors determined that he was suffering from a diabetes-related illness, as well as COVID-19. Since January 6th, Cory has been in the ICU at Salem Hospital, and to be honest, we are incredibly lucky to still have him here with us. He was intubated and in an induced coma for a week. When he was extubated last Monday, it was touch-and-go at first, but Cory amazed us all. He went from needing high-flow oxygen to breathing on his own in just three days. As his lungs began to clear and he could breathe more easily, Cory was able to talk with us more and more.

One of the first things he said was how worried he was about his customers and his shop. We reassured him that we had done our best to inform everyone that Kennison’s Barbershop would be closed for the month of January. Cory cares deeply about his customers and takes immense pride in his work.

As of now, however, it looks like the shop will need to remain closed longer than he had hoped. We’re uncertain if it will reopen in March, April, or even later. Cory is eager to return to cutting hair, but his body simply isn’t ready yet.

Cory has a long road to recovery ahead, which includes physical therapy to regain his strength and the feeling in his legs so he can walk again. He is also undergoing dialysis treatments for his kidneys, and while we are hopeful they will heal and function properly, there’s no certainty or timeline for this.

As a small business owner, Cory has bills that need to be accounted for in addition to the significant medical expenses he’ll face once he leaves the hospital. In short, Cory is going to need a little help from all of us to get through this challenging time.

Every donation, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in easing his financial burden and allowing him to focus on his recovery. If you can’t donate, we completely understand, but sharing this campaign with your network would mean the world to us.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support, prayers, and kindness during this challenging time.

With endless gratitude,
The Kennison Family
