A Kidney for Cory Liles

My brother-in-law, Cory, got the news this year that his kidneys are functioning at 7% of normal. As a result, he is on daily home dialysis and is in need of a kidney transplant. Additionally, he does Epogen shots as a measure to hopefully avoid needing another blood transfusion.

My sister, Patricia, suffers from severe migraines and stress disorder which cause her to black out leaving Cory as the sole provider for their family. He has been employed in Park City as a truck driver, but due to his circumstance had to go on medical leave. The two of them could really use our love and support as they work through this challenging time in their lives and work towards a kidney transplant. They plan to use the funds to help with the costs associated with medical needs and lost wages.

Cory and Patricia are the parents of three great girls ages 14, 13, and 10. As a family they enjoy working in their yard and spending time with Grandma. They spent hours last year creating the most amazing fairy garden! During the holidays people like to drive by their home to see their amazing handmade yard nativity and other outside Christmas decorations. Decorating has been a way they could spread holiday cheer within the community—there was even a preschool that came by to see the festive décor. Cory has missed being able to do yardwork this year and looks forward to it when better health returns. As a family, they enjoy taking care of pets, crafting together, and especially watching movies (or BYU or Jazz games—they are big fans!) and playing games together.

Testing is underway for Cory to be added to the kidney transplant list, but they have learned the average wait for a kidney transplant is 2-5 years. They are trying to get the word out about their situation to anyone who would be willing to be tested to see if he/she could be a donor. They have been told a donor doesn’t have costs and would be given high priority for transplant should something happen with their remaining kidney.

Thank you so much for whatever way you can support and help lighten their burden.
