Help Cory aka Uppy now known as "Miracle Man" Rec

Donation protected

Hi my name is Marla Lundy and I am a family friend of the Upshaw Family. For those of you who are not aware, on August 6th Cory was in a horrific ATV accident which left him unconscious and fighting for his life. He had to be air lifted to Kingston General Hospital just hours after he was taken to the local hospital near Bancroft on Saturday morning. Cory was put into a medically induced coma for 48 hours. Cory is now awake and making great strides daily however his injuries are still very present and life changing.

Cory has suffered a basilar skull fracture with approximately ten broken bones in his face including both ears, jaw, cheek bones and the roof of his mouth. The doctors prognosis is positive and they are hopeful these fractures will heal on their own. But only time will tell what the future holds. Cory is now hearing impaired on the right side and will require a hearing device. It is uncertain if this is a permanent loss. There is still blood and liquid seeping out of both ears and the doctors are continuing to monitor this situation. As you can imagine Cory has been seen by numerous doctors and has gone for as many tests. This will continue in the days, weeks and months to come.

Due to the affects that we have all faced in the past 18 months or so with Covid, Cory has also felt the impact of Covid. He was out of work and just recently Cory started a new job that he was truly enjoying but he has only been there two months. Unfortunately, he has no benefits with his new employer. Cory has no medical insurance, disability insurance or any other means to assist in paying for the medical time-off . Cory will not have any coverage for his daily and monthly minimum day to day requirements such as rent, bills, medical items, groceries etc. This is an issue that can really take its toll on a person both mentally and physically.

In spite of all Cory's medical issues he is being called the "Miracle Man". Although Cory prefers Mr. Miracle !

The medical staff at the hospital have said many times that most people would not have survived this type of accident let alone walk and talk within days of the accident. Cory has been fighting his way back to all of us but he truly does have a long road ahead of him and that is where we can all come in to support him.

Although, we as donors, may not think a few dollars here and there are a big deal, but for Cory and his situation it could be life changing. Everyone who knows Cory, knows him as a fun loving, adventurous, kind and proud human being, which is why we know he would never ask anyone for anything especially hand outs. We also know that he would be the first person to help others out in a time of need.

So taking into mind how proud of a man Cory is we are asking on his behalf for your generous donations. With every donations we as a group all will be helping the man we have all come to love get back up on his feet and continue to recover and face the future.

Oh behalf of Gavin Prout and myself as the organizers of this Fund, we would like to thank everyone for their time and assistance with Mr. Miracle's recovery.
