Cornell Cheese has been a guiding force in my life since I was thirteen. The medical care available to him in Jamaica is limited, and time is running out to save his leg and his mobility.

Cornell’s greatest aspiration is to reunite with his family in America, especially his ten grandchildren whom he’s never met. He was deported not for any crime, but because he couldn’t afford legal help to fight for his right to stay. Family is everything to him, and he’s taught me the same. Despite his struggles, Cornell remains a source of positivity and strength, always encouraging others even when he’s facing hardship himself. If he loses his other leg, it would be devastating—not just physically, but emotionally. He’s the kind of person who lifts up everyone around him, and losing his independence would be a heavy blow.
