Help Cornel Burnette

Hi, my name is Ron Hock.

A long-time friend of mine and a local sports official, Cornel Burnette, needs some help with getting some new teeth. Cornel has been officiating here in the Florida panhandle for over 30 years. He has also officiated in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi.

Cornel has been a youth favorite here in the panhandle, always talking to players on and off the field and encouraging the kids to do their best. Most local coaches know when Cornell is behind the plate, and what to expect. Cornel has also represented the Florida panhandle at Cooperstown with a local team.

The last few years have been pretty devastating for Cornel. The loss of his wife and daughter in the last couple of years has wiped out any extra funds he had saved. Before this, Cornel experienced a fire at his home, wiping out his complete residence.

To top all this off, Cornel has experienced brain surgery for cancer and currently has a stint in his brain. His ability to umpire all day or do landscaping is cut short because of keeping his balance/dizziness in line. The cold weather days hurt his teeth which are cracked and the season starts for Cornel in less than 30 days. His illness has taken a toll on his teeth and he needs quite a few teeth replaced. As you can imagine, this condition is painful every day.

Cornel's Medicare policy comes far short of covering the needed expenses. He got a discounted dental policy today, taking his necessary dental work from over $13,000 to just under $7500. His dental appointment has been set for early February.
