The Story:
For over a month, my wife Cori dealt with what we thought was just a stubborn pulled rib or a sore muscle. She finally decided to see a chiropractor on Saturday, February 28th, hoping for some much-needed relief. She had no idea that one simple decision would change the course of her life forever.
During the adjustment, the chiropractor was extremely aggressive, throwing his full body weight into her. Cori knew immediately that something was wrong. What followed was an absolute nightmare.
We ended up in the emergency trauma ward, where CT scans revealed a terrifying reality. The force of the adjustment had caused an acute Grade 3 splenic laceration (a major tear in her spleen). The internal bleeding was so severe that it created a baseball-sized hematoma (7.8 cm) of blood trapped inside and around her organ, putting immense pressure on her lungs and other internals.
To save her life and stop the hemorrhage, the trauma team had to perform an emergency arterial embolization. While the procedure saved her, it came at a permanent cost: because the blood supply had to be cut off to stop the bleeding, the top portion of Cori's spleen has died off (infarction) and will never function again. She is now home, but her body is forever changed.
Why we are reaching out:
The legal system in Idaho makes it incredibly difficult to hold franchises accountable. Most firms require $20,000 to $40,000 upfront just for medical experts to prove what the CT scans already show. While we are fighting for justice, the medical bills are already here.
Between the trauma ward, the emergency procedure, multiple CT scans, and the ongoing monitoring to ensure the dead tissue doesn't become infected, we are facing a mountain of debt that we simply cannot afford.
