Help Corgian & Shyena Recover From Massive Flood

Donation protected
Hey y'all, Corgian here.

On April 12th, Ft Lauderdale got hit by a rain storm that was the first of its kind in 5000 years.

As it turns out we live in Ft Lauderdale. As such the area outside our home got hit by 22inches of rain.

Where we live however in a recessed area, so we experienced several feet of flooding.

The flooding came into our home. All of our furniture is unsalvageable. We managed to protect our crucial electronics for our livelihoods, but things such as food, clothes, and more are not guaranteed to us anymore.

Our home has been under 6 in of water for about 12 hours.

Anything you can give can help us start over. The money will be used to help us with finding new housing, any fees involved with our cars from the flood, getting our pets medical attention, and starting our lives over after this major loss.

UPDATE:
10:52AM

Ft Lauderdale operations are starting to come back. I went out to go check on all my neighbors, making sure they had food and water.

We're trying to get out as soon as possible. But we can only get in and out of our place through our window.

The water is still high but its down several feet.

Thank you so much for helping us get to $5K. We set the goal so low because we have no idea what its going to cost to get back to normal. We dont know if the cars can run,Thet they're still in place!

UPDATE #2 4:33PM

Hey y'all. $10K is insane. I barely expected to break $1K. I raised it because we still have no idea whether our cars work or not and we cant try to start them until things are The current status is as follows:

I was able to hop this fence in order to help a bunch of the dogs in the area use the restroom. Mika was so happy to run around.

I had to put her in a grocery bag in order to climb with her. But then all the other neighbor dogs were handed to me over the fence.

All our babies have been very happy and
safe during all of this. We've been comforting them despite the horror of our home.

And with all of your help, we've been able to find temporary housing at a family-friend's house.

We're going to be clean and dry for the first time in 24 hours. Apologies for the face, there's been enough tears to fill our house a second time.

Thank you all for everything.

UPDATE #3 Day 3 10:17AM

We've been able to recover in dry safety. Shy and I both work remotely so we're set up here for work. We got clean shoes today which was a major improvement.

We're heading back to the property today with a truck to try recover what can be salvaged. We have no idea what to expect, but we're looking to get more clothes, any broadcast equipment, personal items, and a few of our old kitchen supplies if possible. We have no idea how much of anything is still there.

We love you. Thank you.

UPDATE #4: A Week Later

First off, Shy and I are trying to find a way thank everyone. We never expected this kind of a response. We are so lucky to have the support we've had.

The home is dry but filling with mold. It smells rancid.

Pretty much everything left is unsalvageable. Other than a few pictures, and some documents we have to sort through.

We're going to come back one last time this weekend to get the last of things and then the landlord is destroying the property and the remaining furniture.
Currently, Shy and I are couch surfing as we fight to find a place that will house us. We're storing our stuff with family, our cats are with one friend, and we're moving from one friend's house to another until May 15th.

Meanwhile, our cars have finally, FINALLY been towed. Our first attempt to get them towed happened when the gas shortage was in full swing.

Sadly its going to be about a week from now until they get back to me on either vehicle. Shy and I have sadly been Lyfting and walking whenever possible. Its made looking for a new home very difficult. We just want a place to stay for a year so I can finish my Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

We're struggling and trying to get into therapy to help us process everything. Its been a nightmarish process but Shy finally found some headway.

One final note, FEMA has declared that our zip code is not a disaster zone. We put in a request for help from Red Cross.

I'm hoping May can be a better month than April was.

UPDATE #5 FINAL UPDATE

Today, May 16th, 2023, Shy and I had a miraculous day. We just got approved to move into an apartment in July in Deerfield Beach AND we just got our new car to replace our destroyed cars.

I dont have pictures of either as I'm currently working in California, but know that none of this was possible without all your support. Shy and I want to take the time to thank as many of you individually as we can. With over $17,000 donated we have more than enough to start over and try again. You guys have allowed us so much opportunity after this miserable ordeal.

This process was agonizingly slow and it took a significant toll on our mental health, but now with our basic needs met we can finally put out lives together and move forward. We love you all so much. Thank you from the bottom of our healing hearts.
