My name is Chris Burrows, and on Nov. 23, 2025, my brother Corey's world came apart when his beloved wife, Jennifer Morán—a dear friend to so many in Chicago and beyond, a loving sister, cherished daughter and very proud tía—died just over a day after she was admitted to the hospital.

Corey had been on FMLA leave from his job to provide full-time care for Jenn—who was recovering from a debilitating illness—when he was fired without warning by his employer just a few days before Jenn died.

Now Corey needs help getting back on his feet while he grieves and figures out where to go from here. His former employer had canceled the life insurance so there was no payout, and Corey and Jenn had been struggling to save money over the past two years as a single-income household with two outstanding student loans.

Money raised by this fundraiser will help Corey pay for rent and cover basic needs and bills as well as any unexpected funeral, medical or other costs while he looks for a job.
