Help Corey Howard Overcome Medical Challenges

Hello, my name is Corey Howard, and I'm reaching out for your help during a very difficult time in my life. Almost a month ago, I was diagnosed with Diabetes and I thought that would be the end of it. Due to a pair of shoes that didn't fit right, I developed a blister on the bottom of my left foot. On June 30th, 2024, I noticed that my foot had swollen to double its normal size and had begun to turn red throughout. My fiance and I rushed to my local emergency room and found out that my blister had become infected with an unknown bacteria.

I was transferred to another local hospital more equipped to deal with my specific case. After a couple of days, the doctors rushed me into my first surgery which was able to relieve the pressure on my foot and also remove the infection from the skin at and above the blister area.

However, a couple of days later, it was advised that there was an infection in the bone of the toe next to my big toe. The difficult decision had to be made to amputate the toe or continue a long and deemed unsuccessful route of infection treatment. The decision was made to amputate the toe.

My Journey to recovery is and will be both physically challenging especially with being out of work for a month or more. The treatments and medications, not only for my diabetes, but for my continued condition are costly. Despite having health insurance, many expenses are not covered or minimally covered. This has become increasingly difficult to keep up with everyday living expenses alongside medical expenses.
