Tragically, in the blink of an eye anyones life could change which is exactly what happened to the Brown family on January 31st at 2:45am, Corey was traveling down I20 & Polk on his way home from work when the driver of an Suv suddenly swerved out in front of him.. Unfortunately, the driver of the Suv died at the scene & Corey was left stuck in the passenger side of the car because he was paralyzed from the neck down on impact. Luckily, there was a bystander who was changing a tire & was able to witness the crash & render aid.He ran right over to Coreys vehicle. Corey immediately asked the man to call his wife.
Since Coreys arrival to Methodist Medical Center of Dallas he has undergone 1 surgery thus far. That surgery in particular was done to relieve some of the pressure & inflammation from his spinal cord. Corey will need several more surgeries soon to aid in his recovery. Corey has been diagnosed with a C1-C4 Incomplete Spinal injury. Since the surgery Corey has regained some feeling/sensation to his limbs.
If you know his wife then you know she is a hardworking mother & a strong willed woman who will not ask for help. She has never had to. That being said I have organized this fundraiser to help her with things that she may not have even considered at this time. Bills will not stop while she's absent from work by her husband's side spending countless hours to ensure he will progress. Also for the medical bills insurance won't cover & the physical therapy that he may need months to years after hospitalization. Needless to say they will need a great medical team.
Corey and Shanel are also parents of 4 amazing children Milan (3); Londyn (8); Chancelor (14); and Journey (15). At this time there is no way to be certain Corey will ever be able to return to physically working & running his bartending company, although we are hopeful.
Based on disability elegibility guidelines Corey will not be eligible due to his spinal injury being diagnosed “incomplete.” Which they deem “possibility” he could recover eventually. Which isgreat news for him but not financially.
Please, help us in assisting the Brown Family during this devastating time. Even the smallest donation can make a huge difference.
