Help Corey Fight Brain Cancer!

Hi everyone!

Our best friend, Corey Sousa, is more than just a friend—he’s our family. He’s the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone in need, the kind of husband, son, and friend who brings light to everyone around him. But for the last four years, Corey has been facing the toughest battle of his life.

For those of you that don't know Corey's story, he was diagnosed 4 years ago with high-grade pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma and leptomeningeal disease (a very aggressive brain cancer that has spread to his spine). Over the last 4 years he has been slowly declining and requiring more physical assistance and aggressive changes in his treatment course. In the past year, he has endured multiple brain surgeries and now travels to Boston every week for treatment that is administered directly into his head. Since the beginning of his battle, he has been unable to work as a FedEx driver—something that once gave him pride in providing for his family, leaving his wife the stress of being the sole provider. Unfortunately, his wife has been unable to return to work since his major decline in Decemeber as he continues to require 24/7 care at home leading to financial hardships. She has been his sole caregiver since the start of his diagnosis with support from close family and friends.

Most recently his mobility has taken a turn for the worse, making it difficult to climb stairs and get around the house. The things Corey once loved, like playing video games and diving into the world of Star Wars, have become impossible due to his declining motor function. Even basic tasks have become a challenge like walking, eating and bathing.

This fundraiser is to help ease the overwhelming financial burden on Corey and his family. Donations will go toward:

Corey has always been a fighter, a "miracle" in the eyes of specialty oncologists' and we want to make sure he can continue to focus on his battle without the added stress of financial hardships.
