Help Corey Avoid Eviction and Gain Stability

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Corey and I’m fighting to keep a roof over my head.

On May 19th, I received a 60-day notice to vacate my apartment by June 16th. I paid a $3,350 deposit when I moved in, and I’ve been working with the leasing office on a payment plan—$350 a week—to catch up after falling one month behind. I’ve already made a $350 payment and will be putting down another $700 next week. That brings my balance down to about $2,300.

But instead of support, I was served a 3-day notice to pay in full or face immediate eviction before the June 16th deadline I was promised.

Why am I behind? Life has thrown everything at me at once:

My IRS hardship request was denied, so I didn’t get the tax refund I was counting on. Can you imagine because oh yeah I forgot to mention I was living in my car to save up enough money while I was paying all these taxes on daily goods and gas last year before I got this place. I said all that to say for them not to give me a refund for a mistake they made 3 years ago and after I show them my apartment manager is trying to evict me my IRS Advocate says my documents weren't good enough for a hardship now here I am on GoFundMe.

I’m no longer employed at Milagros Cinemas, they scheduled me for zero shifts during Black History Month—no explanation, just it was slow here's a shift or 2 to make up for that.

I’m trying to level up my income by working night shifts, but I can’t even afford the $100+ for the guard card certification I need to qualify. I can't even spend on money to improve because of this notice I'm absolutely stuck.

I’ve done everything I can communicated with the leasing office, started a payment plan, and am still working. I just need time and support to make it through this stretch.

If you can help, every dollar will go directly to:

Paying down rent to avoid eviction.

Getting my guard card so I can start overnight work.

This isn’t just about money t’s about stability, dignity, and making it to the other side of a tough season. Thank you for reading and for caring

Fun fact I have a LLC called cores innovations I started last year as I was finding rooms to rent and I can't wait to make it out of this struggle to help guide my communities towards better opportunities. But thank you everyone I hope people read this my back is really against the wall
