Help Corey and Jeremy

Many of you are already aware of the journey my brother Corey and his family have been in this past year. In February 2022 Corey was diagnosed with Stage 4 Carcinoma of Unknown Origin. They believe the cancer is Non Small Cell Lung Cancer. This is not Corey’s first journey with cancer, in 2012 he was diagnosed with Stage 3 Melanoma. Corey battled Melanoma and beat melanoma all while having his brand new 4 month old little boy Carson, who we all know has Down Syndrome. Carson was dealing with a lot of medical issues of his own at the time.

Now Corey and his family are at a new crossroads. In January of 2023 Corey learned of a new tumor growing in his head, that tumor had radiation to treat it and we are hopeful that the radiation is successful. Corey learned that the the treatment he had been receiving was not working to reduce the tumors on his adrenal glands and needed to start a new Chemo Regimen. Corey had his first round of this new chemo in February however it weakened his immune system so much that he had to be hospitalized for a week after the first round. His medical team added some new drugs to his second round hoping that he would avoid any future complications. Corey had his second round of this treatment on 03/01/2022 alone with the additional drugs. During this 2nd round of chemo it destroyed his immune system and an abscess in his buttocks exploded literally and figuratively into his body. ON 3/7/22 he was rushed to the hospital by Ambulance and transported to Vanderbilt where he received life saving surgery but not before flatlining 2 times before being stabilized. His Medical team instructed Jeremy at that time to call all of his family to the hospital as it was time. Corey had a different plan however and when I arrived to the hospital he opened his eyes and he survived, he thrived and his medical team tells us it is truly a miracle. This is no doubt due to the the many prayer from people who love him and his family from all over the country. Corey is so forever thankful for everyone’s love and support.

As of now Jeremy has taken FMLA to help Corey at home. The family has some major changes they need to make so that they can make things easier for family members to support them, they may need to move. Jeremy has used all of his time off and is taking time off unpaid. This page is being set up for anyone who wants to help support the family with a small donation. People are always calling and asking if there is anything they can do to help and at times friends have dropped off food etc but if you are able to help a financial donation is probably the best gift at this point. If you know my brother you know he is too proud to ask for help so I am doing it for him!
