Help Corbin Wall's Medical Expenses

Hi, my name is Alexis and I'm fundraising for Corbin Wall's Medical Expenses.

I've been a friend and neighbor with the Wall family since we moved to our neighborhood in 2008. Corbin's mom, Jamie, and I quickly became best friends after meeting in the culdesac. Corbin and Colton would enjoy hours of playing in our backyards with my boys, Austin and Blake.

Unfortunately in 2013, the family experienced some difficulties. Richard was laid off from his job and Jamie was diagnosed with breast cancer. In 2017, Carsyn was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes along with Richard enduring another lay off. Sadly in 2018, Corbin's beautiful mother, Jamie, passed away after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer. Richard has been a single dad since then, working and caring for their children, Colton, Corbin, and Carsyn. Colton and Corbin are graduates of Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park, Texas. Carsyn is currently a junior in high school.

On May 20th, 2023, tragedy struck again. Corbin was driving his motorcycle through an intersection in Georgetown when a young driver entered the intersection and accidentally turned into Corbin on his motorcycle. Corbin sustained spinal fractures, a broken nose and a traumatic brain injury. Corbin was admitted to Seton Round Rock hospital. Since the accident, he has endured 6 surgeries. These include spinal surgeries, surgeries to place stents to keep pressure off of his brain, along with surgeries to replace part of his skull and a surgery to repair his broken nose. He remained in a coma for the past 3 1/2 months. Then a miracle happened, he began squeezing Richard's hand when asked and started moving his leg and partially opening his eyes.

He was moved to a long term acute care facility and then into the inpatient rehab during this past month. Over the past 4 weeks, he's been making a lot of progress. He began mouthing words, sitting with support on the side of his bed and even began eating ice chips. He asked for his phone last week! Last week, insurance approved a transfer to TIRR Memorial Hermann, a top hospital in Houston where he can receive the best post traumatic brain injury rehabilitation. Richard and Colton drove Corbin to TIRR where he will be for the upcoming weeks.

Corbin will need a lot of medical care over the next years to come. He will need a wheelchair, assistive devices for walking and bathing, not to mention likely a home health aide when he returns home. The urgent need is for money to help Richard make the extra insurance payments and copays for the past 4 months of hospitalization. Another challenge arose a month ago. Richard was informed that he was being laid off on August 31st, from the start-up company he was working for. He had to switch to Cobra to be able to continue the family's health insurance. He is currently looking for his next job and has a couple that he's applying for that he can work remotely. Ultimately, more financial needs will arise when Corbin is discharged from TIRR.

These funds will be used for all healthcare expenses related to Corbin's hospitalizations and upcoming health needs including therapies, assistive devices and any needed home support for Corbin.
