Help Copper Cat Books Relocate and Thrive

In 2017, we opened Copper Cat Books at this location and have been here since that time. We love books; we love our customers and community and can't imaging not being here...but sadly, even though we survived COVID (barely), we are not able to survive what the owner of our property is doing with rent....raising us $1000 a month for 2025 and if we were to stay, another $1100 a month moving forward into 2026.

So, it seems we need to make a move if we are going to survive and here we are with hat in hand asking our community, our customers and any booklovers that want to help keep an indie bookstore open to do whatever you might be able to do to help with this unexpected expense of the moving costs and elevated rent.

On top of the rent, on December 21, we came to the store to find the tree out front cut down and all kinds of equipment in place and working; digging a HUGE hole that we now know will be an AT&T 75 foot "stealth" CELL tower....with no "trying to make it look like a pine tree disguise"...

I don't know all the science of if a cell tower is dangerous (or not) but I know from everything I have researched, I don't want to sit within about 40 feet of it for 10-12 hours a day when some experts say you should be at least a quarter mile away (or more).

So, there you have it...my sad story.

Now, the good part; we REALLY want to stay open and are looking for space close by that we can afford and hope to be able to do that.

Funds received will be used to help pay the increased rent and transition to a new space. Scary but exciting all rolled up into one!! We will keep everybody posted.
