Help COP26 Sydney rally cover our costs

On Saturday November 6, the Global Day of Action on Climate, people around the world will be protesting during the COP26 summit to demand that their leaders act decisively on climate change to prevent catastrophic global warming.

In Sydney a broad coalition of groups has come together to demand that Scott Morrison act now.

The protest comes at a critical time when Australia and the world’s attention is on this issue. It is crucial time to exercise our right to protest and to call for the urgent climate action that we need.

But due to the uncertainty of COVID restrictions we have had to apply to NSW Health for an exemption in order to go ahead, and organise a number of COVID Safe measures. We need to cover the cost of legal help required to make this application and to hold the rally.

Our government's commitment to climate action is a fraud, with Morrison producing no plan to get to even the net zero by 2050 target beyond a vague hope that new technology will fix the problem. But we already know what is needed: a rapid transition to 100 per cent renewable energy, funding for jobs and retraining for fossil fuel workers, electrified transport and manufacturing and Indigenous-led land management and jobs on country.
