Our family is asking for your support for Cooper after a devastating injury he sustained while doing what he loves most — playing hockey. While competing in the Jackson Hole Hockey Tournament on January 25th, Cooper was boarded from behind. Boarding is a dangerous and illegal move in hockey due to a high risk of injury. The force used by the other player to send Cooper into the boards resulted in multiple breaks to his arm and wrist. The injury was severe enough to require surgery, during which doctors placed a plate and screws to properly align and stabilize the bones so they can heal correctly.

Cooper is currently in recovery and facing a challenging road ahead. In addition to the physical pain and limitations, he will need follow-up appointments, possible physical therapy, and extended time away from both school and hockey. As a dedicated student-athlete and senior, this has been especially difficult for him, as he was looking forward to finishing his high school career strong and continuing to pursue his passion for the sport.

At this time, we are still waiting to learn more about Cooper’s full recovery timeline. We are hopeful and praying that with time, care, and determination, he will be able to return to the ice and complete his senior year at State. Hockey has been such an important part of Cooper’s life, teaching him discipline, teamwork, and resilience — qualities he is now relying on more than ever during his recovery.

Unfortunately, this unexpected injury has also brought significant financial stress. Between emergency care, surgery, hospital stays, follow-up visits, physical therapy, medications, and travel expenses, the costs can quickly add up. This GoFundMe has been created to help ease the financial burden so Cooper and our family can focus fully on his healing and recovery. All funds raised will be put directly towards Coopers medical and recovery expenses.
