Cooper is a 20-year-old new father facing every parent’s worst nightmare. He and his baby girl, Hazel Marie Kae, need support as they walk through an unimaginable medical crisis. At just 42 days old, Hazel was severely abused by her mother. She suffered 7 broken ribs, bleeding on both sides of her brain, and permanent brain damage. Hazel is now at Children’s Hospital in Omaha, and Cooper, who lives in Hastings, Nebraska, is doing everything he can to be there for his daughter. Before Hazel’s mother was arrested, Cooper had not yet been able to see his baby girl. Now he is trying to be present for Hazel and do right by her during the long road ahead.
Cooper’s hairstylist is organizing this fundraiser because Cooper has shared how deeply he wants to be a good father and show up for Hazel in every way he can. Support will help with the ongoing costs of traveling from Hastings to Omaha so Cooper can visit Hazel, as well as the hospital bills, rehabilitation, and any medical equipment Hazel may need if and when he is able to bring her home. Because Hazel’s needs are likely to continue over time, recurring donations can make a real difference by helping Cooper keep up with travel and prepare for her care in the weeks and months ahead so he can bring her home successfully. One-time donations are also deeply appreciated. Cooper and Hazel need a village to help them through this, and any support through donations, sharing this fundraiser, resources, and prayers for them would be greatly appreciated.
