Last month, I got bad news about my one-eyed Cocker Spaniel, Cooper. He was diagnosed with grade 3 soft tissue sarcoma. Luckily, the cancer hasn’t spread, but it’s the most aggressive grade and there’s a 50% chance it will. He’s almost 12, but he really has so much life in him. He hasn’t slowed down a bit and is still the happy, playful pup many of you know and love. To give him the best chance to live a longer healthy life, the vet recommends chemotherapy. He’s the best boy and the sweetest angel, and I feel I owe it to him to fight like hell as long as he’s willing. He’s been by my side through the ups and downs of the last 11 years and has given so much love to everyone he’s met.
The vet is recommending 5 treatments of chemo, one every 3 weeks. The total cost will range between $7,600 and $11,000, depending on how many supportive medications he’ll need. I’ve consulted with experts in dog cancers and they’ve recommended an oncologist at BluePearl Pet Hospital, so he’ll be getting the best care.
We appreciate any help you can offer and hope to celebrate remission with you all in the future.
