My name is Joy, and I run Freeljoy LLC, a private pole dance studio that I built from the ground up in my detached garage. In teaching pole dance for 10 years, I've poured my heart, time, and savings into transforming this space over the last three years—insulating it, installing epoxy flooring, setting up professional studio poles, and even adding a bathroom. This studio has become a welcoming home for a diverse group of students who join me for morning and evening pole dance, conditioning, and stretch/yoga classes. Unfortunately, the lack of an AC unit has made it challenging to maintain a safe and comfortable environment during the hot summer months. My students often struggle with overheating, and the excessive heat makes it difficult to safely perform intermediate and advanced moves or maintain constant movement due to slippery poles/floor. As the instructor, I feel a deep responsibility to provide a space where everyone can focus, learn, and grow without worrying about their safety or comfort. Installing an AC unit would transform our studio experience. It would allow for proper airflow, help regulate body temperature, and create a safer environment for everyone.
