Help Cookie the Hamster Fight for Her Life

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart about my sweet little hamster, Cookie. She’s only four months old, just a baby, and has brought so much joy and love into my life.

Recently, I noticed a lump near her cheek, and after taking her to the vet, I found out it could be a tumor. The initial exam alone cost over $300, and now Cookie needs surgery to give her a real chance at recovery.

Unfortunately, I was recently laid off and can’t afford the cost of the surgery and future recovery costs on my own. That’s why I’m asking for your help, any contribution, no matter how much, would mean the world to both of us.

Cookie is such a gentle, curious little soul, and I just want to give her the happy, healthy life she deserves.

We took Cookie to a veterinarian who specializes in exotic animals. I called clinics all over the Bay Area, and found that about 90% either don’t treat hamsters or have stopped seeing pocket pets altogether. Thankfully, we found a trustworthy and reasonably priced vet in Santa Cruz.

The funds we previously received were used for Cookie’s visit there. She had fluid extracted and was sent home with medication. We also received an estimate for the surgery she needs to remove the tumor.

Unfortunately, the tumor is quite large and has a significant blood supply, which means she’ll require a longer period under anesthesia. This makes the procedure riskier and more expensive. The vet says she has about a 50/50 chance of making it through, but surgery is her only shot at survival. It’s the only way we can give her a chance to fight for her life.

I love Cookie, she means so much to me and has brought me so much joy. I can’t imagine losing her without doing everything I can to help. Any support, no matter how much, would mean the world and will go directly toward her care and surgery. I greatly appreciate everyone’s support.
