Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share the story of my beloved Basset Hound, Cookie. She’s just one year and four months old, and already she’s had more than her fair share of challenges. Early in life, she battled a severe case of valley fever, likely due to being born in Arizona where the disease is common. Despite it all, Cookie remained full of love and resilience.
Recently, she began limping badly, and after taking her to the vet, we received some heartbreaking news. X-rays revealed that Cookie is suffering from a very rare condition called Multiple Cartilaginous Exostosis — with growths affecting her neck and shoulders. Her medical team believes a bone biopsy is necessary to determine whether these growths are cancerous or possibly caused by a fungal infection, which we pray is treatable.
The estimated cost for this next step is between $4,000 and $5,000 — an overwhelming amount, especially as a self-employed sound engineer and musician. I simply don’t have the means to cover this alone.
This is why I’ve humbly started this GoFundMe. If you are able to help in any way — whether through a donation or by sharing Cookie’s story — I would be eternally grateful. Every little bit brings us one step closer to giving Cookie the chance she deserves to live a long, happy life.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, compassion, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
With deep gratitude,
Jason, Aria and the entire Marshall family
