I am a person who always had a desire to learn how to grow religiously, although it did have many challenges. I was born in Brooklyn, New York, and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada when I was two. I went to a Chabad day school for kindergarten and first grade but my family wasn't observant. We then moved to East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania because of financial hardships and there were no Jewish schools, and a lack of a community there. We stayed in PA for about 3 years and then we moved back to the Las Vegas area. There I attended the Chofetz Chaim day school where I began learning what it means to live a Torah lifestyle. I encouraged my family to start keeping Kosher and Shabbat, but I still struggled because my father was not Jewish. As high school was approaching, I was worried because there were no religious Jewish high schools in the Las Vegas area at the time. I searched and I eventually found the Goldie Margolin School for Girls in Memphis, Tennessee, and I absolutely love it here. I have had the opportunity to take on leadership positions such as Student Council President and Midwest NCSY Regional Board VP Outreach, and the ability to guide the new dormers who have joined my GMSG journey. I found my individual voice as an observant Jew, and can’t wait to take my learning and growing to even greater heights. Please help support my year in Israel. I'm hoping to attend Midreshet Tehillah (on the Neve Campus) in the fall to continue growing and learning.
