Help Us Find Josiah

Josiah Bracken has been missing since late Saturday, December 13, 2025. His whereabouts remain unknown. He was last seen with a friend and were last known to be traveling by water toward the Camp Coogan area - Sitka - shortly before or around midnight. While there has been speculation about a boating accident, at this time, nothing has been confirmed. The family is seeking additional professional and volunteer help to pursue all possible leads.

After extensive efforts, the Coast Guard and State Police officially called off their search and rescue operations as of last week. Despite this, Josiah’s mother (from Oregon) , brother (from Washington), and family are continuing to search for them and are seeking answers.

“We are deeply grateful for the work already done by search and rescue teams,” said representatives. “We understand the challenges and realities of maritime operations in Southeast Alaska. Our request is simple: that reasonable recovery-focused efforts continue, so families may one day have clarity and closure.”

This fundraiser is being organized to support ongoing, independent efforts to locate Josiah.

Funds raised will help cover expenses such as:

• Hiring qualified divers, private search professionals, or licensed investigators

• Search equipment and investigative tools

• Transportation and lodging for family and search efforts

• A possible reward for information that directly leads to finding Josiah

Volunteers Needed

In addition, the families respectfully ask that qualified volunteers with relevant maritime search experience or appropriate underwater search technology consider coming forward to assist, in coordination with authorities and local guidance.

This includes individuals or organizations with access to tools such as side-scan sonar, multibeam sonar, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), underwater imaging equipment, or other professional-grade recovery technology, who are willing to offer their time and expertise safely and responsibly.

Any such assistance would be welcomed with gratitude and directed through proper channels to ensure safety, accuracy, and respect for ongoing investigative efforts.
