This is a terrible story of a humanitarian I knew personally, Pastor Alex Wurm, and his daughter Serena, 22 years old. We had just finished loading up his small aircraft with relief items to head to Montego Bay, Jamaica. The plane was overloaded with all the supplies, and as he took off, the loaded aircraft didn't make it. It crashed immediately upon takeoff and killed them both right in a housing development in Coral Springs, Florida.
I know there are already several fundraisers for the Wurm's family to assist his surviving widow and children. I am urging you to donate to those funds as well. The Wurm's family also need your assistance as well.
I am putting up this GoFundMe to help the families of the Jamaican people and continue the work started by Alex Wurm for the desperate people in Montego Bay where he was headed
The Jamaican community is in need personal hygiene items especially infant clothing (diapers and wipes)
The drinking water system is terrible as sewage is now mixed into the river water. Dried food goods like can goods which my team has BJ's and Costco purchasing power to get the items. The road infrastructure in some of the really deep rural areas are all gone and the only means of getting to them is by makeshift boats which the locals make by putting bamboo together.
My old boys of Jamaica College has boots on the ground in Jamaica. I work for an airline and can get items down but they are operating 1 airport which is the Kingston Airport. The Montego Bay airport is still closed as the runways were severely damaged and that’s why Pastor Wurm's was flying his own small jet with the items when he crashed. Unfortunately, the plane was overloaded.
There are many small groups like mine who are desperately trying to aide the people but as with all the bureaucracy, it's tedious to just hand over money when the folks don't need money... they need aid.
This is my main aim for starting this account. I know what is needed and I feel it is my duty to assist in whatever way me and crew can. This Melissa hurricane is the worst in Jamaica's.
It was so bad that our Miss Universe Jamaican contestant, Dr. Gabrielle Henry almost never made it to the competition only to go there in Thailand where they too Just went through a devastating tsunami killing thousands. So this is my appeal to you.
Thanks in advance for your support. In addition I to Jamaica, my platform is also for mental health which is why I advocate for other charities like the Footprint To Success Clubhouse for the mentally handicapped.
