Help continue Elder Julia's footprints...

Donation protected
Family and Friends,
On Sunday March 7th, our beloved Julia Bogany suffered a major stoke in which it has affected her physical body and ability to speak.   She is, and will be, in need of potential long term rehabilitation, but with hope,  prayer, and everyone's support, we are confident that she will pull through and one day join us again in teaching, laughing and encouraging our youth.

This gofundme is to pay for her continued rehabilitation, and to increase and maximize the efforts of the facility she is residing in currently.  The maximum time that the doctors recommended is 9 months and the goal is set for a year. All donations will be spent on any and all medical bills required for Julias residency, Therapy, and any related issues involving Julias well being.  An individual bank account has been set up specifically for this gofundme and every penny spent is and will be documented and traceable. With that being said my family thanks you all for your help and donations and please keep her in your prayers.

Below is a brief statement from a few of her fellow colleagues:

Julia is a revered Tongva elder, and for over a dozen years has held many important roles at Pitzer, as our elder in residence, collaborator, co-educator, mentor and guide on innumerable projects and programs with hundreds of students, staff, faculty and community members through the years. Her work to uplift, revitalize, and decolonize the legacy of the Native Americans on whose land we have settled (the Tongva) has made a huge impact not only locally and nationally, but specifically in the educational and social justice work of Pitzer (and Pomona, as well). We'd like to honor her work and support her and her family, in this time of need.

With love,
Gina Lamb, Tricia Morgan, Tessa Hicks Peterson, Susan Phillips, Erich Steinman, and the students of IPMP

This is just one of the many her heart has touched along her journey.

Thank you to all who have supported her family through this tough time. Please keep her in your prayers and God Bless!

Sincerely,
The Aranda Family
