My name is Constance, and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult times of my life. Eight months ago, my court-ordered alimony was unexpectedly cut off when my ex retired from the federal government. What was supposed to be a short-term gap has turned into months of waiting, due to ongoing OPM processing delays. My savings have been depleted, and while I can cover basic bills, I no longer have enough for rent. Now, I’m facing eviction in just two weeks, and I have nowhere accessible to go if I lose my home.
I live with a disability from a broken neck that left me with partial paralysis and a traumatic brain injury. I rely on a wheelchair, and the chair I use outside my home isn’t working right now. As a single mom, I’m proud that my daughter is in her final semester of college, but my son’s home isn’t accessible for me. I’ve been searching for remote work that fits my abilities, but so far, nothing has come through. I’m doing everything I can to stay afloat, but I need help to keep a roof over my head while this situation is resolved.
If you’re able to help, I am deeply grateful. Even if you can’t donate, sharing my story with others would mean more than you know. Thank you for reading and for any support you can offer during this challenging time.
