Hello Orca Books Community!

We would like to introduce you to our new bookshop cat: Constance Lunar 5 Kafka. Since Orlando retired to restful cabin life, we have been hoping another cat(s) would find us. Recently we got an email from a wonderful person who found this hungry young cat curled up on her porch.

While trying to find her humans in case she was lost, we took her to the vet for a check up and learned she'd already suffered some unfortunate trauma. She is estimated to be 9 months to one years old and the medical care she needs tells a sad story for such a young cat. No one came forward to claim her so we are inviting her into our collective.

We are trying to raise the funds to cover the giant estimate the vet gave us. One of her upper canines is broken off at the root with shards still remaining, and the other canine is chipped. In addition to dental surgery she also needs to be spayed, given vaccines, and have routine blood work to rule out FeLV/FIV. She might even need a kitty chiropractor, as her spine is a bit jangled. Not a cheap rescue but she has warmed our hearts and chosen Orca Books Cooperative as home.

We appreciate any donations people can make towards her vet costs. If we exceed our goal, any additional funds will go to Orlando's continued medical care. He is doing really well in retirement and takes his medicine twice a day like a champ. Part of the week Constance has overnights at Orlando's cabin so she isn't alone too much at the store. We are hoping another cat comes our way (with less vet bills!) so Constance can have a constant companion.
